Let the Sun Shine! June 2019
Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.
-Buddha
June!?! Woah.
We are getting closer to the Summer Solstice. The longest day of the year in the Northern hemisphere. A time where the Sun is at its highest peak. A good time to see what the Sun is revealing to us in our lives. Many great new opportunities are being presented. For some of us, it is good to know that some dark corners are being illuminated and revealed.
For me, it's a to time clear the slate to ensure my birthday wishes have a space to manifest.
The solar floodlights are on, illuminating the path on our journey. So let's pay attention to what is already right there in front of us.
Summer is here. We get to come out, have fun, celebrate, and be proud of our accomplishments. A good time to open up and let the sun shine in. The light is on.
Open up to see and be seen.
This exposure can also feel like a vulnerable time. Hidden away are memories of past insecurities, shame, guilt and embarrassment. These feelings come to the surface seemingly to make us feel down. When we are going through something really intense, most of us decide to muscle through it alone. We do this for a whole host of reasons. The mental tapes begin their loops; "I don't want to bother anyone with this small thing." "I really can handle this on my own" "This is stupid... This shouldn't bother me... If I ask for help I am going to look weak". Embarrassment. Guilt. Shame. "This is not a good look!"
Hey, Summer is here! I encourage you not to hide in the shade, come out into the light and let yourself receive. Time to let go of the darkness of winter. It's time to breathe in and find some freedom. It's time to breathe in and revel in the light.
It's so much easier for us to be there for someone else than it is to allow us to be there for ourselves. Some of us don't gift ourselves one tenth of what we give to others.
The truth is receiving is a gift. I know for me, when I give anything; a physical gift, a gift of my time, a simple smile. I feel rewarded just knowing that I added a little light in someone's day. I have had to learn to receive those same gifts in return.
In allowing someone to be there for you, you are giving them a gift as well.
I once read somewhere that the beginning of summer was the day of making. A time where thoughts begin to manifest; a time of magic and wonder.
Who or what are you drawing to yourself?
Some gifts of truth:
*Be nicer and gentler with yourself.
*Let go of the need to be absolutely perfect. (You can't win that one, trust me
*Follow through on the promises you've made to yourself (for example...go see that movie)
*Share a bit of yourself with people you LOVE (without expecting something back in return)
*Meditate or pray
*Practice being grateful (even for the simplest toothiest smile you get on the street )
*Be open to receive even just a little bit of what you give.
It takes a tremendous amount of courage to reach across the vast expanse not knowing what is out there. If you do so with a little more availability you will see the gifts waiting for you.
For me, I feel blessed, when I reach out and you are there. You are such a gift. Thank you for being you.
LOVE your way!
Create a beautiful day.
