Morning Matters March 2018
Light.
The Sun peeks through the window blinds, ushering the start of a new day. The birdsong relaying messages of a day full of potential and possibilities. As we awaken, the rhythm of the breath changes to a deep inhale, it allows for us to enter fully into a new day. And deep within us comes this profound utterance broadcast far and wide.....
Arrgh!!! Make it go away!!! Today, work is so going to suuuuck!!!
Or
Nooooo! I don't wanna get out of bed!
Or
Damn.... These Kids have to learn to feed themselves!
Or
I've got to read what he tweeted now!!
Many of us don't realize that how we start our day is how we usually end it. Starting by thinking it's a F*ed up day usually helps us end up with one.
There are plenty of nutrition experts who believe it's essential that the first meal that you have should be something with nutritional value. I know it's true for me. If I start my day with a green juice or smoothie it's vastly different than the days I might start with a croissant from Balthazar (what?-don't judge me). Many of us know this. Yet many of us start the day with a self created struggle.
I am more than aware that the struggle is real. Especially in the morning when we don't desire to leave the womb-like comfort of the bed. This comfy zone is the best place to create some daily magic.
How many of us take a moment before even getting out of bed to create the day?
I have been saying "Create a Beautiful Day" for over 25 years now. It's on my outgoing messages, emails, Instagram(link).... most everywhere. It's a great reminder that YOU are the one at the helm and that you have the ability to navigate where your vehicle goes. Everyday is an opportunity to lose the programming and to step into who you really are.
Accumulatively shifting from the "Argh not again, I hate this" thoughts in the morning to "OK, what cool thing is going to happen today" will not only create a beautiful day: it creates a beautiful tomorrow, week, month, year, etc. And the effect is contagious: your friends and loved ones will start co-creating with you.
Here are some reminders to help you along:
Please, please, please don't reach for your phone first thing. There is nothing good there for you to wake up to. Give yourself at least 10 minutes to own your day and how you want it to be. Unplug from the collective belief. We are all programmed to respond in a certain way. Give yourself the opportunity to see things from your own true perspective; not from the you which has been conditioned from your tribe, media, culture, or family. Or the "somebody-done-somebody-wrong" club. In this moment, unplug from the dominating colective fear that we all know too well.
Allow yourself to see what you can do to feel different. Feel what it feels like to have a day that will work for you.
Make room for a different outcome. Choose to see a new path if you need to.
Breathe it in.
Then "Let the music play"!
Create a Beautiful day!
LOVE your way
